Dr. Criselle Angeline Peñamante is a physician and academic dedicated to enhancing global mental health delivery. She is currently a Master of Medical Sciences candidate in Global Health Delivery at Harvard Medical School, focusing on strengthening the Philippines’ mental healthcare system through digital health solutions. Criselle holds a Doctor of Medicine, a master’s in clinical psychology, and a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines, where she also serves as a tenured faculty teaching pre-med and medical students. Criselle is a Global Health Research Scholar at Harvard Medical School’s Program in Global Primary Care and Social Change and a Graduate Student Researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry, engaged in implementation research projects and NIH-funded clinical trials. Her research spans mental health, climate change, and healthcare workforce development. Criselle is an active member of various professional organizations, including the Harvard Alumni for Mental Health, where she serves as the Director of Culture, Diversity, and Inclusion. Her work has been widely published, and she is a sought-after speaker on topics related to public health and mental health. Motivated by a commitment to the mental health of Filipinos across ages, Criselle aims to reduce stigma, increase awareness, and ultimately save lives. She strives to bridge the gap between research and policy, advocate for mental health, and serve communities in the Philippines and beyond. She continues to teach and mentor while building a network of global mental health champions and centers dedicated to advocacy, policy, and research.
