Dr. Shravanti Muthu graduated from medical school in South India in 2014, where she also completed a medical internship in various medicine and surgery specialties. Shortly after, she sought out her passion for global and population health by pursuing her Masters’ in Public Health degree from Boston University with a focus on Healthcare Management and Global Health minor. She led a team-based project to create a mobile app prototype for healthcare workers in Kenya with the aim of providing safe and efficient newborn care. She worked on a research project at Boston Children’s Hospital to help incorporate a clinical severity scoring system that would improve the ability to provide quality emergency care in that region. Dr. Muthu held a Fellowship position at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the Division of Global Health Protection, where she was an integral part of strengthening training programs for the international healthcare workforce. She led an initiative called “Lead to Serve, Wings to Your Dreams,” a scholarship program for undergraduate engineering students in rural India who have a strong passion for molding their career aspiration to serve their communities as well as demonstrate a financial need. Dr. Muthu joined the Internal Medicine Residency Program at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi in 2021. She is currently in her third year of residency and she will complete her training as a physician of Internal Medicine in 2024. She holds various leadership positions at her program, namely she is the Resident Leader of the Community Committee is heavily involved in creating partnerships between her program and community organizations with the goal of helping to reduce gaps in the health of rural communities within Mississippi. In addition, she was recently selected by her residency program to participate in an global rotation this October where she will provide her medical and public health expertise on-site at hospitals and clinics in Kenya.
