Dr. Carlos Linares, MD, MPH

Dr. Carlos Linares, MD, MPH, is a physician and public health practitioner. He is currently a Research Scientist 2 at the University of New Mexico Transdisciplinary Research, Equity and Engagement Center for Advancing Behavioral Health (TREE Center), working as a collaborator on a variety of projects related to equity including the Equity in Policy Institute, and the Wide Engagement for Access Vaccine Equity study (WEAVE NM), the NIH COVID-19 supplement for the National understanding of the effectiveness of pandemic mitigation policies; in where he developed a series of leadership skills coordinating the activities of a mixed method study, covering the regulatory–IRB requirements and engaging with community partners, in addition to writing, documenting and data analysis.

Originally from Mexico City, he completed a medical degree and graduate training in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease in his country. He holds a Master of Public Health degree from the University of New Mexico, completing a one-year fellowship in evaluation (UNM Dept of Economics) as well. His extracurricular certifications include Mixed Methods research (Harvard Catalyst, 2022), Geographic Information Systems (UNM CE, 2022), Gran Writing (UNM CE 2022), Project Management (UNM CE, 2022). Currently, he’s pursuing the Certification in Public Health (CPH) by the National Board of Public Health Examiners in addition to his applications for doctoral studies.
