Meiping Aggie Sun

Meiping Aggie Sun, Ph.D. is an award-winning health economist and Assistant Professor of Health Economics at Fordham University. Her research focuses on perinatal and early childhood public health policies in developing countries, including prenatal checkups, skilled birth attendance, and growth and development monitoring. Her work has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of Health Economics, PLOS ONE, and the Journal of European Public Policy.

Dr. Sun holds a PhD, MPhil, and MS in Economics from Columbia University, and bachelor’s degrees in biology, economics, and mathematics from Berea College. Her research has been supported by competitive fellowships and grants from organizations such as the Economic History Association (Arthur H. Cole Grant), the Konosuke Matsushita Memorial Foundation, the Institute of International Education (CUSP), and Fordham University. She has also received the Humane Studies Fellowship, the Privacy Scholars Fellowship, and multiple dissertation and academic administration fellowships from Columbia University.

Her contributions to public health research have been recognized with numerous awards, including the Best Poster Award at the Asian Workshop on Econometrics and Health Economics, the Innovative Policy Research Award from the Asian Development Bank and International Economic Association (2024 and 2025), and publication awards from Fordham University.
