Butho Ncube, DrPH, MPH, MPA, MBA is a public health epidemiologist with over a decade of experience in international health, surveillance systems, health policy, data analytics, and health program evaluation. He currently serves as an Epidemiologist at the New York State Department of Health, where he works on Public Health Surveillance. Dr. Ncube developed an innovative matching algorithm that integrated more than 250 million records to improve race and ethnicity completeness in communicable diseases including Hepatitis B and C. His expertise spans communicable disease monitoring, opioid overdose prevention, and emergency medical services data analysis. Previously, he conducted pesticide exposure research among Jamaican farmers as part of an NIH-funded health disparities fellowship. His earlier leadership in HIV surveillance included overseeing statewide case reporting, PrEP program evaluation, and compliance with CDC benchmarks. Dr. Ncube’s research and practice have been disseminated through peer-reviewed publications, national and international conference presentations. He has also directed community-level initiatives in chronic disease prevention, aging-in-place, and health education. Trained as an interdisciplinary scholar, he holds a Doctor of Public Health in Epidemiology and master’s degrees in Public health, Public Administration, and Business Administration. Dr. Ncube is dedicated to advancing equity-focused innovations in surveillance and public health policy.
