Dr. Halah Farooqi, MD

Dow University of Health Sciences

Dr. Halah Farooqi, MD graduated from medical school at Dow International Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. Her diverse training includes rotations and direct patient care across various medical specialties in multiple community and university hospitals and centres, both the United States and in Pakistan, where she developed a strong foundation in patient-centered care.

Deeply committed to preventative & community health, Dr. Farooqi has been involved in many roles thus far. During her time in Karachi, Dr. Farooqi took every opportunity to engage with underserved communities- she served as a traveling senior first aid instructor, training other students and members of underserved populations in both rural and urban areas of Pakistan, working to address the health disparities of all backgrounds and classes. Her sessions focused on life-saving techniques tailored to the unique challenges of each community; teaching men, women, and children of all backgrounds the procedures of CPR, protocols for saving lives in the events of catastrophes, and in emergency situations such as in burn and trauma victims, delivering babies when a hospital is inaccessible, heat strokes, seizures, motorcycle and vehicle accidents, etc. Additionally, she was an active fellow of a university affiliated, student-led NGO, that provided financial support to help low-income patients with little access to emergency services or health education attain the necessary healthcare services and surgical procedures that they otherwise could not afford.

Dr. Farooqi’s clinical interests lie in community and internal medicine, with a strong passion for women’s health. She is especially driven to improve access to care for women and empower them through education and advocacy, utilizing the art of medicine as a pathway to equity and humanitarianism, and as a means to serve those who’s voices are often unheard. She is currently continuing to strengthen her medical training through clinical work at a private rheumatology practice in New Jersey. She aims to pursue her medical residency, with the goal of becoming a dedicated and compassionate future physician.
