Dr. Priyanka Roy, MD, PhD, is a public health leader and Deputy Director (Medical)/Deputy Chief Inspector of Factories in the Directorate of Factories, Government of West Bengal. A nationally recognized expert in occupational health, she has made significant contributions to the prevention, diagnosis, and policy response to silicosis and other occupational diseases in India. Her research focuses on occupational disease burden, job exposure assessment, and workplace health interventions, with impact extending across both formal and informal sectors. As a Global Burden of Disease (GBD) collaborator, Dr. Roy has advanced international understanding of non-communicable and occupational diseases, authoring influential publications in leading journals. She is also deeply engaged in training labor inspectors, medical officers, and policymakers, ensuring evidence-based practices improve workplace safety. Through her leadership, scholarship, and advocacy, Dr. Roy continues to strengthen public health systems and promote safer, healthier futures for workers.
