Dr. Kamilah Woodson

Dr. Kamilah Marie Woodson is a tenured Full Professor in the School of Education at Howard University, Department of Human Development and Psychoeducational Studies, and a licensed clinical psychologist with over 30 years of experience. She previously served as Associate Dean and Director of Graduate Studies, Department Chair, and Director of Training for the APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Ph.D. program at Howard University. Dr. Woodson has published more than 25 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has served on over 100 doctoral dissertation committees, chairing more than 40. Her scholarly work has focused on global colorism, friendship among women of color, and culturally grounded mental health interventions, including her edited volume Colorism: Investigating a Global Phenomenon, with Implications for Research, Policy and Practice (2020) and research conducted as a Fulbright-Hays Fellow in Brazil.

She has held faculty and clinical appointments in the Howard University College of Medicine, Howard University Division of Nursing, Yale University School of Nursing, and The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and has served as an NSF program evaluator and academic leadership coach for junior faculty and university administrators. Dr. Woodson has extensive clinical training across hospital, court, correctional, domestic violence, and community mental health settings, and maintains a small executive coaching and private practice in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. In 2024, she founded Epiphany Psychological Solutions, LLC, a psychological technology company dedicated to culturally responsive digital mental health innovation, with the Epiphany App scheduled to launch in 2026. She is also the creator and host of the forthcoming media platform All Things Love: Where Love Heals. Dr. Woodson earned her Ph.D. and M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology, Los Angeles, and her B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and is currently pursuing theological training at Howard University School of Divinity.
