Astrian Horsburgh is a researcher and community organizer currently based in DC. They worked in public health emergency preparedness in Oklahoma during the COVID-19 response, witnessing the interplay of preparedness, resilience, and vulnerability in the face of public health catastrophe. Astrian studied geography at the University of California, Berkeley, and GIS/geospatial technologies at the University of Oklahoma. Their current research interests center on community disaster resilience, disability and the disabled experience of disaster, pandemic preparedness (or lack thereof), and the health impacts of extractive industries and global supply chains.
