Diana M. Tordoff, PhD, MPH is an epidemiologist whose research focuses on LGBTQ+ health equity. She currently is an Instructor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Stanford School of Medicine. Dr. Tordoff completed her PhD and MPH in Epidemiology at the University of Washington and received a BA with honors in Mathematics from Vassar College. She has been PI on several NIH-funded studies focused on the sexual health of transgender populations and is also an affiliated researcher with The PRIDE Study (pridestudy.org), where she recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship. Dr. Tordoff has over 15 years of experience working with and within LGBTQ+ communities. Her scholarship has advanced the field of HIV/STI epidemiology and prevention for transgender adults and influenced best practices for transgender-inclusive survey and study design. She has also expanded the evidence base for gender-affirming care for transgender youth, providing critical data that has been cited in policy debates and court cases across the United States, directly shaping efforts to safeguard access to medically necessary care in the face of mounting legislative restrictions. Collectively, her work has filled critical gaps in knowledge, informed clinical practice and policy, and ensured the meaningful inclusion of LGBTQ+ populations in public health research. Her research interests include sexual and reproductive health, the vaginal microbiome, molecular epidemiology, intersectionality, and community-engaged methods.
