Miya Cain

Associate Director, FSG

Miya Cain works to build healthier, more equitable communities where people shape the decisions affecting their lives. She designs multi-sector initiatives, develops foundation strategies, and prepares leaders to drive change. As an Associate Director at FSG, a nonprofit consulting firm focused on advancing equitable systems change, she leads the development of cross-sector wellbeing initiatives around the country. Miya helped develop and launch HEY! Greater Cincinnati, a collective impact initiative engaging 200+ leaders from over 115 youth-serving organizations, 25 youth fellows, and 13 funders to address youth mental health across 12 counties. She also partnered with UCSF and the San Francisco Department of Public Health to help develop the Expecting Justice initiative, supporting Black and Pacific Islander mothers as leaders in eliminating racial disparities in birth outcomes. In addition, she develops foundation strategies focused on holistic approaches to health and wellbeing, working with clients including the Hogg Foundation for Mental Health and the Headwaters Foundation. Beyond FSG, she trains hundreds of community leaders nationwide—from youth to educators to elected officials—on leadership development and community organizing through the Leading Change Network, and she serves on the board of HEAL Trafficking, a national organization combating human trafficking through a public health lens. Previously, Miya served as a political appointee in the Obama Administration at the Department of Health and Human Services and as a White House Associate in the Office of the Vice President. As a Global Health Corps fellow, she worked with Partners in Health in rural Rwanda, improving medication distribution and HIV care for youth. Miya earned her BA in Psychology-Behavioral Neuroscience from Yale University and MPP from Harvard Kennedy School, where she taught Public Narrative with Professor Marshall Ganz.
