Prajjwol Luitel

Dr. Prajjwol Luitel, MBBS, is a global surgery advocate, clinician, and researcher dedicated to advancing perioperative health equity in low- and middle-income countries. He earned his medical degree from the Institute of Medicine, Tribhuvan University, after securing first rank among 15,000 applicants in Nepal’s national medical entrance examination, earning a full government scholarship. Currently, he serves as Medical Director at a Primary Health Center in rural Nepal under the Ministry of Health and Population, where he collaborates with community health workers and local leaders to strengthen primary health care delivery. His fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, focused on perioperative health equity, with a capstone on empowering community health workers to identify congenital anomalies. He has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications and presented multiple abstracts at international conferences, primarily in global surgery and surgical education. As the founder of Researchify, he created a platform that democratized access to research and mentorship. His leadership extends to global organizations, where he has served as Trainee Co-Lead for ASE-SIMPL, a committee member for AAGS, and a research member of InciSioN. His contributions have been recognized recently with the 2025 “Dr. Anvar and Pari Velji Student Leader in Global Health Award” from the Consortium of Universities for Global Health. Outside professional life, he is a singer-songwriter and avid hiker. He has trekked up to 20,000 feet without supplemental oxygen and is preparing for his next adventure to Everest Base Camp. These pursuits remind him of the resilience and perseverance required in global health.
